The need to Audit occupational health and safety is not driven by membership or accreditation of a standards organisation.
IMASS firmly believes organisations should audit their health and safety arrangements in line with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999: Regulation 5; Health and Safety Arrangements (shown below)

This shows that all of the elements of a Quality Management System are expected, and as with all other Regulations, it is a requirement in law.
The start and continuation of a Safety Management System (SMS) depends on Audit.
