IMASS courses are delivered by Health and Safety Consultants who are competent trainers. Our courses are interactive and involve as far as possible role play and group work. All courses are evaluated, most by way of written auditable tests. IMASS provides session plans and schemes of work for training records purposes and issues certificates for all courses/training as appropriate.

INVESTIGATION

½ day Interactive course
Explores accident causation, duties under H&S Law and a practical
Tailored to use stock documents or clients’ documentation
Course is assessed

COSHH

1 day Training course specifically for our in-house COSHH software
Delegates should be competent to undertake COSHH assessments
Course will not tell students how to interpret MSDS (Manufacturer Safety Data Sheets)

DSE RISK
ASSESSOR

1 day Explores the DSE Regulations
Musculoskeletal issues
Basic ergonomics
Course includes delegates working in pairs undertaking DSE Risk Assessments
Course is assessed

ERGONOMICS

1 day Practical and theoretical exploration of ergonomics
Course will consider cognitive, sight, sound and touch inputs
Practical use of anthropometric tables
Course is not assessed

H&S TRAINING
FOR MANAGERS

2 days Delegates explore accident investigation
Accident causation
Roles and responsibilities
Legal structure common and statute law
Basic concepts of Risk Assessment (usually looking at manual Handling or DSE) allowing students to complete these with a level of competence
Finally enforcement

H&S TRAINING FOR REPRESENTATIVES OF HEALTH & SAFETY/UNION SAFETY REPRESENTATIVES

2 days Elected USR’s or Representatives of Health and Safety are taken through a series of rôle plays and group work sessions which explore:
The 1977 and / or 1996 Regulations
The Health and Safety at Work Act
The Roles of Representatives
Rights of Representatives
English Legal System, common, civil and case law are also explored
Course is assessed

MANUAL HANDLING

2 hrs Punchy 2 hour exploration of cause, effect, the law, and physiology

MANUAL HANDLING RISK ASSESSOR

2 days Explores legal duties, duty of care etc., the Regulations, Guidance and Appendices
Includes the IMASS Manual Handling course and a session on physiology
Attendees are introduced to all 3 IMASS Manual Handling Risk Assessments (Filter, Lifting/Lowering and Pushing/Pulling)
Undertake a number of assessments as part of the course
Course is assessed

MANUAL HANDLING - TRAIN THE TRAINER

3 days As above with additional units on:
Course design, delivery, planning and assessment
Course is assessed

NOISE AWARENESS

2 hrs Short session exploring noise in a practical way
Course is aimed at Supervisors
Course is assessed

PROCESS RISK ASSESSMENT

1 day (or 2 x ½ days) Students will understand basic H&S law. Concepts of Assessment are explored and the IMASS Risk Assessment system is introduced
Working in pairs, students will undertake a Process Risk Assessment under supervision (pm or 2nd ½ day)
Course is assessed

SAFETY COMMITTEE

1 day This course is designed to develop H&S Committee’s, enabling them to become more strategic
The outcomes of the course include, depending on the numbers attending, a number of projects
This course has to be developed with the client and is not assessed

VIBRATION AWARENESS (HAV)

2 hrs A short session exploring the effect of vibration (Hand Arm)
Relevant legislation and management of vibration in the workplace
Course is not assessed
