| Many people are exposed to a variety of substances whilst
at work such as chemicals, dusts fumes etc. as well as environmental
pollutants i.e. noise. As an employer, you have a duty to ensure
that the workplace is as free of risks to your employee’s
health as possible. To be able to do this you need to know to
what and to how much are they being exposed. IMASS can advise
and support you by determining the level of substances and noise
that your workers are exposed to and provide you with realistic
observations and recommendations that will enable you to manage
exposure effectively. |
| Examples of how IMASS can assist you are: |
 |
Noise Measurement |
 |
Dust Measurement |
 |
Chemical Analysis |
|
 The
HSE expect employers to undertake an adequate and sufficient
assessment of employee’s individual exposure to noise
where this may be above the relevant action level. If you
need to raise your voice to be understood at a distance of
one metre
it indicates that the level of noise is too high. IMASS can
undertake workplace measurement, assessment of exposure to
the individual and present suitable recommendations to reduce
and
control this exposure.
|
 Dust
measurement, including the level that individual workers
are being exposed to either in the form of inhalable or respirable
dusts. There are usually relatively simple means of reducing
or controlling employee’s exposure to dusts and IMASS
can advise you on how to do this effectively.

 Chemicals
are frequently present in the workplace but often the actual
nature or levels of these chemicals are not known. Most employers
are aware of the COSHH (Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health)
Regulations but have not undertaken appropriate assessments.
We can undertake these on your behalf and our qualified Occupational
Health Physicians can fully support the management of any health
issues which may arise. We can alos undertake gas analysis for
a range of gases, for example carbon dioxide, hydrogen and inert
gases used in metal welding tasks and vVapour analysis anlysing
concentrations of styrene, toluene butanol and many others.
Also mists of oil, Hydrogen Chloride, Chromic Acid and other
liquids can be captured and analysed by appropriate methods
as approved by the HSE.
